Blind School Music and Percussion Workshops

Tongbong School for the Blind is located about 5km out of the main centre of Vientiane.  Tongbong provides a safe environment, support and education to kids aged between 6 - 17 who are visually  impaired.  We visited the school a couple of weeks back to donate some food and money and had the opportunity to meet the kids who live and study at the school, and some of the teachers and carers.  Seeing kids there that are of similar age to my own made me realise how lucky and fortunate we are to have 2 healthy children, and got me thinking about things we could do to try and make life a little more fun and interesting for the kids who are trapped in a world of darkness.  

The kids at the school sung us a song to say thanks for visiting, and I noticed that most of them had a really good ear for music and rhythm and so we came up with the idea to supply them with a range of percussion instruments like drums, bongos and tambourines and then arrange to do some regular percussion classes or jam sessions in order to give them an enjoyable and fun regular activity to get involved with.

Seeking $500+ to purchase a range of percussion instruments.  I'll get the ball rolling by throwing in $50 - just because I think bongos are cool and I am looking forward to making some noise!!
